Jon Kuehler is an avid aviator who loves
radial engines and taildraggers — and an
airport manager who owns a grass strip, manages
multiple executive and county-run airports, and runs a
successful FBO. He owns Buffalo Airport (1E7) in Amarillo, Texas —
where Buff Box was born and still runs live — and manages other airports as well.
He founded Buffalo Aviation (veteran-owned).
In the U.S. Marine Corps he served as an
Aviation Meteorologist for nine years, including a deployment to
Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and support to
operations globally.
His hangar includes a Beech 18 E18S, N390V, and a
Beechcraft Baron, N116H — so he knows something about
pumping a lot of gas.
Buff Box, our self-serve fuel kiosk, was built with
both sides of the pump in mind: the manager and FBO operator who have to keep
fuel simple, legal, and affordable when nobody is on the desk — and the pilot who just wants
to land, pay, and fuel. Grass strips, county fields, and executive airports don’t get the same
product as a major hub — and they shouldn’t be forced into a console stack that ignores how
real GA works. Too many legacy products optimize for the vendor’s annual software model and
leave the customer (pilot) experience as an afterthought.
Buff Box is different: pay on a personal device, unlock your existing pump, log gallons,
track inventory — $1,299 one-time, with no annual software fee to the
airport. It is live on our own airport first (Buffalo / 1E7).
Easy to adapt. Installs are straightforward and the control piece is not a
six-figure trap. At this price, you could install a new Buff Box every year if you
wanted to (you will not need to) and still come out ahead of the annual dues and cloud fees
typical of competitor console systems. Hardware that can change with your field — not a
subscription that never does.
Buffalo Aviation also brokers aircraft and helps airports think through low-cost fuel paths
and grant packaging when sponsors already qualify for state aviation programs.
